The Newark Alliance participates on the Healthcare President/CEO Workgroup
which is comprised of healthcare leaders in the Greater Newark area. The
group convenes to address the crisis created by hospital closings in the area
and to strategize on proactive solutions for health care delivery in the City of
Newark. The mission of the President/CEO Workgroup is to build an effective
coalition that will quantifiably enhance the primary health care capacity in the
City by developing and implementing models of care and case management.
Also, through review of patient information, the Workgroup seeks to create and
develop a healthcare coalition that establishes "best practices" for delivery of
health services with greater access and efficiency.
The President/CEO Workgroup will accomplish it mission by addressing the
following areas: the demand for private practice physicians; insufficient
insurance coverage; and, over-use of emergency care services for preventable
illnesses. Also, the Workgroup engages community practitioners, medical
administrations of the various public health/health systems and policy makers
to build an infrastructure that will be defined at the state level for its improved
coordination of care, quality and costs. Their vision is to have this model
replicated in urban centers throughout the state.
