Founded December 1999
From 1999 to 2004, coordinated the Newark Public School District Business Infrastructure Initiative where senior-level executives from Newark Alliance supporting organizations worked with Newark Public School executives on best business practices in Human Resources, Technology, Finance, and Facilities Management
From 2001 to 2003 awarded over $90,000 in grants to Newark Public School Middle School teachers for the Newark Champions of Learning Interactive Grant Program
In 2003, served on the Advisory Committee for "A Day in the Life of Newark" where a group of over 1,000 students from the NPS District participated in a photographic shoot of a diverse collection of images around the city
In October 2005 began the Planning Phase of the OpportunityNewark Strategic Action Plan
April 2006, launched the implementation Phase of the OpportunityNewark Strategic Action Plan
In 2006, funded a consultant on behalf of the City of Newark to review police operations with the objective of reducing the crime rate in the city in support of the Mayor's Public Safety Agenda
In January 2006, became lead organization in U.S. DOL Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) initiative; awarded $100,000 Planning Grant
In partnership with the Newark Workforce Investment Board supported the development and opening of the One-Stop Satellite Office at the Port Newark
Awarded $5.1 million U.S. DOL WIRED grant in January 2007 to implement innovative workforce development programs in eight northern NJ counties
Project Coordinator for the North Jersey WIRED/NJ State Innovation Partnership Institute Financial Services Industry $150,000 one-year grant to involve industry leaders in curriculum
development
Awarded $100,000 grant from the Victoria Foundation to develop truck driving workforce initiative (2007 – 2008)
Launched the Newark Community Foundation in January 2007
Awarded $500,000 REDI grant by the NJ Department of Labor in 2008 to establish the TLD Talent Network
Designated as the Northern Regional Project Team Leader for the $6 million State Energy Sector Partnership Grant
In 2008, hosted two AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteers
Supported the Mayor's public safety agenda by providing a $320,000 two-year grant for the Crime Control Specialist (2008 – 2009)
Received a Prudential grant in early 2010 to establish the Greater Newark Workforce Funders Collaborative; designated an official collaborative of the National Fund for Workforce Solutions in April 2011
