Facilitated by the Newark Alliance, the Newark Anchor Collaborative (NAC) is a learning community of executive leaders from leading public and private institutions anchored in Newark. As part of NAC, Newark anchors are advancing a shared commitment to equitable growth in Newark, with an emphasis on racial equity.

From its inception in 2017 to today, NAC has grown from an initial group of seven anchors to a collaborative of 20 anchors representing a wide range of sectors including arts and culture, higher education, healthcare, and private corporations. The range in sectors, expertise, and capabilities helps spur cross-sector collaboration and innovative problem-solving around Newark’s most pressing issues related to inclusive economic growth.

Central to NAC is the implementation of the inclusive growth campaign, Hire. Buy. Live. Newark, which charges anchors to reimagine existing hiring, procurement, and housing choice policies and practices to support Newarkers.
