Camila Rodriguez Rey
Urban Planner Associate
Camila Rodriguez Rey is the Urban Planner Associate at Newark Alliance, where she supports the organization’s mission through equitable urban planning, place-based strategies, and inclusive community engagement. At the Alliance, Camila works to enhance public space access, walkability, and environmental resilience across Newark's neighborhoods.
With over 10 years of international experience, she has led design and planning efforts for impactful urban interventions across a range of global contexts, including Buenos Aires, New York, and Dubai. Her work integrates sustainability goals with meaningful community engagement, supporting projects in both high-density urban neighborhoods and rapidly developing areas. She has contributed to government-led strategies as well as grassroots initiatives, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to influence public policy, improve infrastructure, and strengthen cultural identity through the built environment.
Camila is an architect (University of Buenos Aires) and was awarded an academic excellence grant to study at La Sapienza University of Rome. She is LEED AP BD+C certified and a trained Human Rights Consultant. Beyond her professional role, Camila is committed to social justice through public speaking, volunteering, and creative practices that explore how design can reshape urban life from the ground up.
