Derrick C. Ross

Deputy Director, District Management

As the Deputy Director of District Management for Newark Alliance, Derrick oversees district operations, vendor management, quality-of-life enforcement workflows, special projects, and cross-agency partnerships. He also supports the day-to-day management and long-term strategy of programs and initiatives that enhance the cleanliness, safety, and beautification of Downtown Newark.

Born in Newark, NJ and grew up in the Vailsburg section of Newark and is also a West Side high school graduate.

A passionate advocate for education and self-improvement, special needs, and deaf/hard of the deaf/hard-of-hearing community. Derrick brings a background in municipal government with experience in working for Newark Depart of Water and Sewer Unities, Business Administrator’s Office, and Newark Department of Public Works. Derrick holds a business degree and a minor in accounting from Caldwell University, where he competed on the Men’s Basketball team. Derrick is also attending Rutgers Business School to complete his MBA degree.

Outside of work, Derrick enjoys playing chess, listening to Jazz and Soul music, and watching college football. He plans to continue excelling and advancing within his career.
