A central goal of the Alliance is to encourage more people to live, work, learn, and play in Newark by fostering inclusive new development, homeownership, and world-class amenities.
The Alliance encourages investments in real estate and small businesses that realize the potential of Black and Brown entrepreneurs and developers.
In order to enhance the quality of life for new and existing residents alike, Live Newark’s placemaking strategies, include:
Fostering a strong sense of community by encouraging investment in local amenities and community spaces such as parks and cultural venues;
Supporting the capacity of local makers and entrepreneurs and celebrating their contributions through cultural events, small business activations, and incentive initiatives;
Convening real estate stakeholders to coordinate catalytic investments and improve land use processes and policies.
Encouraging the city-wide coordination of homelessness prevention resources and interventions.
Recent Live Newark Outcomes
Launched a digital gift card to encourage spending at Newark retailers generating over $90,000 in sales among Newark small businesses.
Supported the development of a comprehensive homelessness strategic plan in collaboration with the City of Newark and national planning experts.
Piloted an investment fund to support local entrepreneurs with revocable grants, equity, or other types of financing for storefront retail space.
